A bug jug is a fun kids crafts idea that allows young entomologists to assemble their own bug collection from their backyard habitat. You can make the bug jug form some old netting or panty hose and an empty 2 liter plastic bottle with a lid.
You cut an air hole into the bottle with a knife or sharp scissors, then add dirt and plants into the bottom. This will help weigh the bottle down and create a nice environment for the bugs. Then you should securely glue the netting around the air hole, and the only thing left to do is add the bugs. You can put the bugs your kids collect in through the open top and seal it up. The bug jug is a fun way to get kids interested in the natural world.
